What your shower may need is for the tiles to come off, whether it be the walls and floor or just the floor and first row. Then this area will require waterproofing and retiling.

ALSS Traditional Method Shower Repair
How to fix a leaking shower that needs a new shower floor and the first row?
Do you need to know how to fix a leaking shower that has cracked or loose tiles around the bottom row and/or the shower floor? The ALSS Traditional Method Shower Repair could be the answer! This is when your shower floor tiles and the first row of tiles will require removal, waterproofing, and retiling. This may cause extensive and expensive water damage to the building if left untreated. Act quick to prevent further costly damage!
Scope includes:
- Remove your shower screen, the bottom row of tiles and floor tiles, and the cement bed in the shower.
- Minor render and primer of your shower floor and bottom row as required.
- Install a floor angle to the outside perimeter of your shower area and incorporate it into the waterproofing system. Top of angle to protrude minimum 5mm above finished floor tiles if it is hobless. Apply a bond breaker to corners and joints between the walls and base. If your shower has a hob, we will waterproof over the inside and top of the hob.
- Apply primer before waterproofing to ensure adhesion of membrane. Waterproof your shower base two coats in compliance with AS 3740.
- Retile the floor to match your existing floor tiles (as close as possible) with appropriate falls to wastes being 1:60, and away from all walls, and grout all tiles.
- Reinstall your existing shower screen. Seal wall to wall junctions with silicone, and behind taps.
- All rubbish removal, materials, and labour included.

ALSS Full Rebuild Shower Repair
Entire walls and floor in your leaking shower need replacement
How to fix a leaking shower when your shower wall tiles are cracked/loose and the base of your shower is also in poor condition? The ALSS Full Rebuild is required where your entire shower, both your walls and floor tiles need to be replaced and waterproofed.
Our Full Rebuilds are broken down into strata and owners’ costs in strata buildings. Internal and external walls will be identified and separated in our quotes.
Scope includes:
- Remove your shower screen, taps, shower rose, wall and floor tiles, also tiles from the inside and top of hob and cement bed in the shower.
- Prepare the affected area for the new membrane to AS3740.
- Set new floor waste puddle flange.
- Install a floor angle to the outside perimeter of your shower area and incorporate it into the waterproofing system. Top of angle to protrude minimum 5mm above finished floor tiles incased it is hobless. Apply a bond breaker to corners and joints between the walls and base. If your shower has a hob, we will waterproof over the inside and top of the hob.
- Apply primer before waterproofing to ensure adhesion of membrane.
- Waterproof your shower base and all the walls inside your shower (up to shower rose height) using a non-toxic water-based polyurethane membrane to manufacturers’ specifications and in compliance with AS 3740.
- Retile your shower floor to match your existing floor tiles (as close as possible) with appropriate falls to wastes being 1:60, and away from all your walls.
- Tile your shower walls again using a similar matching tile.
- Supply and install new wall and floor grout with a waterproof additive.
- Seal wall-to-wall junctions with flexible non-mouldy sealant and seal behind taps.
- Reinstall your existing shower screen (if saved on removal).
Stages for Full Rebuild shower repair:

ALSS Traditional Method Bath Replacement
The replacement of your leaking bath and its first row of tiles
This type of repair is required when your bath and/or tiles are not solid or damaged and the bath needs to be removed, waterproofed underneath, and reinstalled to create a waterproof bath area.
Scope includes:
- Take off and safely store the shower screen, spout fitting, and taps.*
- Remove the wall tiles around the bath (only bottom row), and remove the brick sidewall of the bath and the bath*.
- Waterproof the exposed substrate with a suitable and approved membrane.
- Reinstall the bath and brick up the face of the bath.
- Install new tiles to the rectified areas to make good, using similar tiles if an exact match cannot be sourced.
- Reinstall the original shower screen.
- Seal junctions of bath and reinstall the original bath fittings.
* All care will be taken, however, if the original shower screen, vanity, toilet, bath, or tap-wear is damaged while being removed a variation will apply.
Stages of repair for TM Bath Replacement:

ALSS Full Rebuild Bath Replacement
Bath and tiles around bath replaced
This method is required when your bath needs to be removed as it is in very poor condition and leaking. The repair will require a new bath installed and all your wall tiles around your bath to be replaced, waterproofed, and reinstalled.
Our Full Rebuilds are broken down into strata and owners’ costs in strata buildings. Internal and external walls will be identified and separated in our quotes.
Scope includes:
- Remove and store the bath, sprout fittings, and taps for replacement at the completion of the works.
- Discard the wall tiles around the bath up to the beading tile (full walls).
- We will then remove the brick sidewall of the bath and also remove the bath*.
- Waterproof the exposed substrate with a suitable and approved membrane.
- Re-install bath and brick up the face of bath*.
- Install new tiles to the rectified areas to make good, using similar tiles if an exact match cannot be sourced.
- Waterproof the junction of the bath to the wall tiles by the installation of a suitable and approved sealant.
- Re-install the original shower screen and reinstall the original bath fittings,
- Seal junctions of the bath with a flexible sealant.
* All care will be taken, however, if the original shower screen, vanity, toilet, bath, or tap-wear is damaged while being removed a variation will apply.
Traditional Method Bathroom Floor Replacement
How to fix a leaking shower when the entire bathroom floor needs to be replaced?
When the entire bathroom floor needs to be replaced because the waterproofing has failed and the tiles are in poor condition.
Scope includes:
- Take off the shower screen, vanity, toilet, and sprout fitting (taps).
- Remove a bottom row of tiles and floor tiles in the bathroom and shower*.
- Minor render and primer whole bathroom and shower floor and bottom row of wall tiles.
- Waterproof bathroom floor (2 Coats + primer) going inside the floor waste pipes and bottom row in shower.
- Retile bottom row and floor in the bathroom and shower, using similar tiles if an exact match cannot be sourced. (Tile allowance $25pm² for walls and $30pm² for the floor tiles).
- Reinstall shower screen, vanity, toilet and tap fittings.
* All care will be taken, however if the original shower screen, vanity, toilet, bath or tap-wear is damaged while being removed a variation will apply.
